Maafushi Island in Maldives

Maafushi is one of the Maldives’ largest and most visited islands. It’s only 27 kilometers from Male, in the South Male Atoll.

Maafushi has a lot to offer visitors:

1. Bikini Beach and the house reef

Maafushi’s beach is small compared to those on Thoddoo or Ukulhas, and it’s separated into two halves by a breakwater. In one section, restaurants, a diving center, and hotels are surrounded by a barrier.

2. SandBank Trip

Take a picnic lunch to a lovely sandbank, a great location for taking wonderful photos and taking in the blue waters. On a picnic island, you won’t be the only one there. Ner island resorts have taken up several of the surrounding sandbanks and picnic islands in recent years. Just outside of Rihiveli, there are a few interesting sites to see.

3. Snorkeling Safaris

Many guesthouses and water sports facilities in Maafushi provide thrilling excursions to stunning coral reefs teeming with marine life and full of beautiful coral gardens. Maavelaathu, Banana Reef, Villivaru Corner, Turtle Garden, and Maafushi Corner are some of the ideal places to go snorkeling. There is always someone else on the journey with you.

4. Night fishing

If you catch any fish, your hotel will prepare it for you at no additional cost. However, it’s best to discuss everything upfront since it goes well with rice, greens, and other side dishes.
