Though Yala spreads over an area of 1260 square kilometers and consisted of five blocks, only one-fifth of the area is open to the visitors. Yala is reported as the highest leopard destination in the world.

 This Wildlife Park is wildly known for its variety of wild animals as well as highest leopards density considered as the most attracting feature of the park. The Yala National Park/Ruhunu national park is home to 215 species of birds and over 44 diverse mammals.  The area is covered scrub vegetation with over 280 species of plants.  Yala wildlife safari offers half day as well as full day safari. Half day safari is spanning 03-04 hours and for morning safari you have to reach to the entrance early morning. Full day safari is spanning 10-12 hours.
