The Ceylon Spurfowl is a rare ground-dwelling species present in the dense forests of the southern part of Sri Lanka. Ceylon Spurfowl is a forest bird that you can spot in the hills up to about 2000 meters. They usually live in the wet zone of the country. The specialty of these stunning creatures is their timid and secretive behavior. You may get to hear their loud ‘ringing crackle’ but not see them as much. These birds prefer to live mostly in pairs. You will surely get the chance to see and hear them in Kitulgala and Sinharaja.
