Manavari temple is an important Hindu temple related to the ancient legend of “Ramayana”. This temple is located in Chilaw, Puttalam district of Sri Lanka. It’s a sacred place of worship for Hindus, especially for the Hindu pilgrims who travel along the Ramayana Trail in Sri Lanka.

According to the Ramayana legend, Manavari is the first place where Lord Rama(hero king of Ramayana) installed the Shiva Lingam after ending the war with Ravana. This Shiva lingam in Manavari is called ‘Rama Lingam’ and it is believed that it’s the only has been named after Lord Rama other than the one in Rameswaram of India.
