Located on Sri Lanka’s southern coast, not far from Unawatuna, Dalawella Beach is a great place to relax. What a fantastic location! This may be one of the best beaches in the country.
We don’t make this claim about Sri Lanka’s miles and miles of gorgeous golden beaches lightly. Dalawella Beach, in our opinion, is one of the best beaches in the world. This place has it all: rope swings, turtles, and more. There is no way you can leave this off your Sri Lanka itinerary if you are planning a vacation here.
Getting to Dalawella Beach
Via the Southern Expy/E0, it takes about two hours to go from Colombo to Dalawella Beach (126.4 kilometers). Unawatuna is the best place to stay when visiting Dalawella beach. Dalawella beach is at its most beautiful after dusk when the sun has set. And it’s safe to say that it’s a year-round travel attraction.
Dalawella Beach Activities
1. The Palm Tree Rope Swing
Due to its recent Instagram popularity, this rope swing has become popular among visitors. A twisted palm tree shades the beach, and you may swing out into the sea from the rope swing. It’s surreal at sunset and provides for some stunning photographs.
2. Dalawella Beach Turtles
A lot of turtles swim straight off the shore here, making Dalawella Beach turtles renowned around here. They often swim straight into the lagoon, so snorkeling isn’t necessary to enjoy an unforgettable experience with these magnificent animals. It’s easy to see them swimming in the azure waters if you wade through the mud.
3. Dalawella Beach Water Sports
The laid-back vibe of Dalawella Beach is outstanding, so be sure to spend some time there. There are many different things to do if you feel bored or restless, including:
- Snorkeling tours
- Whale and dolphin watching
- Deep-sea fishing
- Kayaking
- Scuba diving
- PADI dive courses
- Jet Skiing
- Wakeboarding
- Surf lessons
Ayurvedic massages and turtle conservation projects at the Turtle Hatchery are other options.
